If you're interested in a career in Electrotechnology - Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, you can earn a Certificate III by combining formal training from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with practical on-the-job experience through HVTC, hosted by Ventia Services Group. Ventia manages over 240 properties worth a billion dollars, including community facilities and corporate spaces, and prioritizes safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility while minimizing equipment downtime.

 

This opportunity is a targeted role for Indigenous applicants.

 

As an Apprentice Refrigeration Mechanic, you'll assist qualified tradesmen across multiple commercial sites. Over 48 months, you'll develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a certified Air Conditioning and Refrigeration technician.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work towards completing the Refrigeration Technician Apprenticeship.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Learn all aspects of commercial air conditioning and refrigeration through classroom and on-the-job training.
  • Assist in routine maintenance, cleaning, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems under supervision.
  • Participate in installations, upgrades, and commissioning of HVAC equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and uphold professional standards in customer interactions.

 

Characteristics and Skills of the Ideal Apprentice:

  • Trustworthy, dependable, and demonstrating integrity in all aspects of work.
  • Keen interest in the HVAC trade with a desire to learn and grow within the industry.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing positively to group dynamics.
  • Capable of understanding and executing instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact closely with your team members, supervisors, and external clients.

 

Minimum Requirements of the Position:

  • Completion of year 10 equivalent or higher
  • NSW Police Check or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to undergo a Pre-Employment Medical
